What is the difference between CAT I and CAT II?

They are impact-performance classes. CAT I backing suits lower-risk positions such as residential and light commercial. CAT II is a reinforced backing for higher-impact positions and is what most gym, school and public-building specifications call for. We issue the classification certificate per batch either way.

Does safety backing replace tempering?

They solve different problems. Tempering changes how the glass breaks; backing holds the fragments in place. Mirror glass cannot be tempered after silvering, so for gym walls we supply tempered-then-silvered glass with CAT II backing, which is the combination most specifications require.

Can existing sizes be matched for a refurbishment?

Yes. Send the existing size schedule and fixing positions and we cut to match, including any cut-outs. Panels are numbered and packed in installation sequence so a floor-by-floor refurbishment can be phased.
