What is black edge and why does copper-free prevent it?

Black edge is corrosion of the silver layer that creeps in from the perimeter where moisture reaches the coating. Conventional mirrors use a copper layer over the silver that accelerates galvanic corrosion once moisture penetrates. Copper-free silvering removes that layer and adds a double protective paint system, so the corrosion path is much slower.

Is it worth the price difference?

In a normally ventilated bathroom, usually not. In a spa, steam room, pool hall or coastal project, yes, because the replacement cost including access and downtime is many times the 8-12% premium. We will tell you which category your project falls into rather than upselling by default.

Does copper-free glass look different?

On the low-iron substrate, yes, and favourably: the reflection is neutral rather than carrying the faint green cast of standard float glass. The difference is most visible on large panels and in daylight.
